TitleDay 1: Parque Tony Gallardo, San Bartolomé de Tirajana
A quiet day in Parque Tony Gallardo, exploring the area with a camera. The most striking bird was a black ibis. The park was nice, a piece of nature as it used to be between the hotels and roads.

TitleDay 2: Avenida de Touroperador Vingresor, San Bartolomé de Tirajana
My hotel was in a quiet area, about 2 kilometers to the beach. But in the street of the hotel I noticed that there are different birds than at home. Most beautiful shots: the Hoopoe (Upupa epops) and the Canary (Serinus canaria).

TitleDay 3: Avenida de Touroperador Vingresor, San Bartolomé de Tirajana
A quiet day in Avenida de Touroperador Vingresor: 4 species noted, but still fun. Common species on Gran Canaria, but slightly different from what we know. In the end it was not a real birding trip. The hotel pool was also attractive.

TitleDay 4: Avenida de Touroperador Vingresor and La Playa del Cura
I had booked an excursion to see dolphins, and it worked. We see whole groups. According to iObs they are bottlenose dolphins. We don't also see a few shearwaters, but that's not what the captain is looking for. It was also nice to be at sea. It was a motorboat, but low down in the boat it is the same.

TitleDay 5: Avenida de Touroperador Vingresor, San Bartolomé de Tirajana
After the excursion yesterday, a quiet day at the hotel. I did walk around the hotel, but I didn't see many new species.

TitleDay 6: Calle Oceania and Paseo Charca Maspalomas
The Maspalomas stream has formed a pond for a beach stroll. East of the stream is the large Maspalomas beach, to the west there are many hotels and shops. For me, the stream was the most fun to photograph the birds. It is right next to a busy road with many pedestrians, but the birds know that the fishing is good there. I can take nice pictures of the "tame" birds, including the Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea) and the Little Egret (Egretta garzetta).

TitleDay 7: Calle Oceania and Paseo Charca Maspalomas
The next day I walked along the beach from Paseo Charca Maspalomas. It was a touristy boulevard, less interesting for the birds and me. The most beautiful shots: the Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) and the Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus).
